Graduation project performed for IKEA Group. Gamified recruitment solution IKEA had a challenge: Many new stores were to be opened in a new market. Many new co-workers needed to be recruited. How do you ensure a fair and fast reqruitment process for all and ensure that the candidates will have a positive experience? IKEA had been thinking about a serious game which needed further exploration. My exploration led to a concept and prove of concept for a recruiment game that will ensure a fun, fast and fair recruitment process The exploration started by understanding better from both the recruiter, as well as candidates perspective: What is important in recruiment and being recruited? I learned that both parties actually want the same; but the traditional recruiment process does not always allow for this. After mapping out both needs and their journeys, I investigated what skills in-store coworkers should have, in order to judge how to gamify this and measure these skills. I investigated multiple gaming styles and innovative ways to interact and tell a story. Based on these insights, I created clear visuals. Together with other co-workers I brainstormed and conceptualized. The final concept conisted of an interative video that would take the candidate on their first day at IKEA. The candidate can choose a department to explore. Via a serious game, the candidate could learn about the daily work. Meanwhile, IKEA could collect data on how the user learns and behaves. The candidate could also apply for an open vacancy via the app through a short video (elevator pitch!) and application form.
